Another Step DONE!!!! Yippee!!!!

Yesterday, I worked on the Star Quilt Along Quilt and got blocks 5-10 completed. I was so excited to have made such progress. This morning, I was determined to finish up the other blocks and TA-DA!!!! I did!!!

I finished all 13 blocks as well as cut out all the sashing strips and sashing squares. I got all the rows sewn and just had to lay them out to see what they would look like. Here they are......

Now, on to sewing the rows together and then, on to the borders!! Whoo Hoo!!! I can't believe I'm getting it done.

And, tomorrow, I'm going to the Houston Internation Quilt Festival. I'm so excited to be able to go again this year. We've had such a crazy time of it lately and I wasn't sure I'd be able to make it. I made the final decision this morning with DH's hearty, "Alright!". He's a sweetie and is so glad for me. And a big shout out for Dear Younger Son who will be taking over caregiving duties for me, so that I can attend. Thanks son!!!

I'm going to be meeting up with a bloggy friend. This will be our first face to face. I hope to take some pics of all the lovely things I see, but I'm unsure of what I can legally share on my blog. I'll be taking pics of the quilts for sure, but I think those are copywrited. Anyway, wish you were all going to be there with me.

Star Quilt Along Slowly

Friday was an interesting Quilt Bee. Only three of us were able to make it. We had our devotional as usual, and then we chatted. Never got the quilt out!!!! We were chatting away and one of the three had to leave early. The two left, me and Valerie, decided we ought to take the opportunity to make a run to Chick Fil A. So, not much got done on the quilt, but we had lots of fun visiting. Very good conversation...

This morning, I straightened up the sewing room and found the basket of fabric and a couple of blocks that were to be the Star Quilt Along....by Amanda Jean at Crazy Mom Quilts. I really liked this quilt and started on it.....way back when. I got four blocks made, and other things got in the way. So, today, I pulled out the basket, pulled up her blog, sat down, read and decided to make the setting blocks. So, I cut all 12 blocks and sewed them together. Here they are. They are very dark green.

Now, all I have to do is go back to week five and start making the star blocks. I am making my quilt in green and white, while the original was pink and white. Making it more me by using green. It felt good to be taking the languishing projects and getting them started again. Something I should have done a while back. So glad to have gotten another project out of the stew and onto the front burner!

OC Top Completed!!!

Yesterday, I spent the day with my sister and her sweet baby, so no sewing. But this morning, I woke up and got started on finishing up Orange Crush. So, by 2:00 this afternoon, I had sewn together the last seam in the top, cut, pressed and sewn on the borders!!!!

Yippee!!!! It's done!!!!

I really like it. There are some flaws in this quilt, but it's my own version! Thanks so much for the encouragement to keep sewing. I'm so glad I did. I don't know when it will get quilted, but it can wait in the closet with the others and make friends....I'm sure they will be there when I get to them someday!

Here are some close ups of the fabrics used in the borders from an older post. I used the small floral print for the outer border and the red for the inner border.

Drats!

Ok....so don't tell anyone, but some of my four patches are turned wrong. This OC quilt is going to get the best of me!!! You know what, I don't even care. I'm leaving them, I'm certainly not frogging it....you know, rip it, rip it. I'll just say I did it on purpose to see if anyone noticed! Do promise to keep my secret, I want to surprise people!

:^)

And, on a happier note: Those of you who are waiting for a package from me (you know who you are!) the Post Office is now responsible to see that you get them! I dropped them off today. So, be on the lookout!

Happy Quilting!!!!

Orange Crush....Again

All my Orange Crush blocks have been stewing for quite a while. I purchased the yardage needed for the mystery at the Spring Shop Hop....um, yeah, back in MARCH!!! Yikes, that's awful. Of course, the mystery started in April....so, let's see, I stayed on track through Part 2. Bad quilter, bad, bad quilter.

Anyway, I did look at the other parts even though I was behind. And, I wasn't really liking it. I had all the pieces cut out, and had all the friendship star blocks sewn together, but bogged down making the album blocks. I wasn't feeling it, so I let them stew.

I read other blogs of quilters who were making this mystery and I still didn't love it. Then, another blogger, Jeanne, took her blocks and did something different. She actually ended up with two quilts . I was really thinking I would do the same.

Then, I was reading through a blog a few days ago and saw this blogger's completed Orange Crush Top and was once again inspired. I decided those OC blocks had stewed long enough. I didn't want to have to think through a new plan.....I had everything prepared and it wouldn't take long to "Just Do It". So, yesterday, I dove into the OC project bag and finished sewing the album blocks, I just needed 7 more. Then, I made the half blocks for the setting triangles and the four quarter blocks. Easy as pie.

Once I got that done, I set it down for the evening and resumed this morning. I haven't had much time to sew today, but did get this much done.

Here is my encouragement. If you have an Orange Crush Mystery quilt that is unfinished, pick it up and work on it. I'm telling you, pics of this quilt don't do it justice. When you actually see it coming together, it's really amazing. I'm falling in love with Orange Crush, and I think you will too! "Just Do It"!!!

Happy Quilting!!

Small Reproduction Four Patch Finish

I finished up this little "Found Quilt" today. You can read more about found quilts here....

This little quilt turned out pretty cute. This is the one that I made trying to keep from clipping threads! You can read about that in this post....Inside the Mind of a Quilter.

Here is a pic of the pieced back too. I just love the little four patches. These finish at 2 inches. The quilt's finished size is 16x22 inches. Here it is sitting at the piano....it won't be there for long, though, the kids (well, ok, they are adults.....) will be yanking it down to play before too much longer.

And, here is the latest free pattern from Patchalot More. Christmas Sparkler....the pic is from Patchalot More, I just borrowed it. (Hope that's ok Marcie!!!)

Marcie makes the cutest quilts and then, the best part??? She makes a pattern for it, so we can own one too! Here is her newest.....Christmas Sparkler. Too cute. Click on the link in my side bar, or try this one. Scroll down on the page to find the free pattern. She might even post a pic of your finished quilt!

And....the winner is.....

OK......wow.....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

You know how I said I tried to reply to everyone's comments????.....I really did.......(Unless you were a noreplyblogger and there was no way to contact you.) And, as I told most of you, I added your name to the hat. Well that wasn't exactly true......I WAS going to add your name to the hat, but when I got close to 100 comments, I knew that wasn't going to work.

You all shocked me, knocked my socks off and generally tickled me pink. I got 212 comments!!! Who would have thought it?????

So, instead of printing out your comments, cutting them apart and actually drawing from a hat, I used a RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR. Never would have known something like that existed, but hey, this is the 21st century and just about anything you might need can be found on the internet!

So, without further ado........
the winner of A Latte Quilts Fall Into Fall Give Away 2008 is........

Drum Roll Please............

Fellow Texan, and Fellow Quilter.......

Another Top Completed!

I finally got the last seam sewn together this morning. I'm sorry the pic isn't too good. I didn't have any "helping hands" to hold the quilt, while I took the pic. So, here is Child's Play draped on the couch. It was such fun to work on this quilt. I've loved the easy blocks and assembly. No thinking...no math...just fun sewing away. Nine patches and plain alternating fabric. Simplicity.

And, if you haven't yet left a comment on the giveaway, be sure and comment on the post, "Fall Into Fall Give Away". Get your name added to the hat. I've added a few things to the original giveaway, so if you've already signed up, go back and see the added items.

Adding to the Give Away

Here are the fat quarters that I am adding to the giveaway. They are reproduction fabrics I found online. Beautiful rust colors, just perfect for fall, don't you think???

Now, I've been trying to reply to each and every comment on my Fall Into Fall Give Away. Because of that, I haven't had any free time to sew!! LOL Oh man, you gals are keeping me busy! I'm loving it, really, but you know it's bad when you don't have time to sew one final seam in a quilt! Maybe tomorrow......

Happy Fall Give Away, Blogging and Quilting!!!

Blown Away!

Ok everyone, I'm officially blown away! I can't believe how many have commented on my Fall Into Fall Give Away. It's overwhelming. And, really, it seems like such a tiny little giveaway!!

If you haven't commented, there is still time. Just comment on this post......right here.....Be sure and read the details so you don't miss out!!!

I am going to add a few fat quarters to the package, just because you are all so sweet to have visited my blog. Pics later....Thanks so much for the visits!

Now, on to what I've been working on. Here is Child's Play, my version.

I've been sewing away, joining the rows and just have to join the last two sections together. I didn't get a pic of it today, but here's an idea. I really think it's cute and although I used fabrics from one collection, Shangri la, it looks really scrappy to me. And, if you've been reading my blog for long, you know I love scrappy quilts.....so I'm really liking this one.

On to finishing up this top....and adding it to the pile of "to be quilted" quilts. I'm saving for a rainy day, you know.

Happy Quilting!!!!!!!!!
